Writing a book takes time, energy, and a certain measure of pure gall. Why would anyone be interested in what I have to say? Who am I to think people will invest their precious time reading something I write?
Fearless confidence.
You see, I share an experience with thousands of people. But no one talks about it. Shame, fear, denial, and a host of other emotions silence them.
Personally, I was embarrassed. Completely humiliated, I hid the realities of life in my home. I hid behind busy schedules, false smiles, and perfect organization. Orchestrating my house of cards to protect our facade, I coordianted outfits for the children, perfectly timed appointments for everything from check-ups to haircuts, and participated in every school and church activity possible. Christmas cards were sent precisely four days past Thanksgiving, complete with an updated photo of smiling children. Perfect!
No one could possibly know the fear and dread I carried in my heart every day. The cold knot-in-the-stomach kind of fear that came with an unexpected phone call or knock on the door. Nope! No one knew, until that day. But God knew. That day He taught me dependence. I learned that it's ok to not have it all wrapped up neatly. Life is messy.
"Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward.”
(Hebrews 10:35, AMP)
God used those years and experiences to teach me lessons. He taught me dependence on Him. But more than that, He called me to write a book, several books in fact, to help people who are struggling with the same issues and challenges I faced.
And so I write. With fearless confidence that though I may not have a platform, I have a family of fellow survivors who will find the books when they need them because He says so. With fearless confidence I work to care for the ones struggling in the crisis times. He calls me to find them.
With fearless confidence I write out of obedience. I write to calm my heart and quiet the calling. I write expectantly, waiting for His glorious reward! "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:21.
